• If you have a valid/current out-of-state teacher certification your pathway is "Endorsement of a Classroom Teaching Certificate" (Interstate reciprocity). 

     ** Please return to the New Teacher section of this site and follow next steps for initial certification.

• If you already hold a valid/current (not expired) NYS teaching license, but are applying for an additional certification your pathway is either: 

  • "Approved teacher prep program - Additional Certificate” OR

  • "Additional Classroom Teaching Certificate"

• If you were part of a residency/alternative teaching program (UTR, NYC Teaching Fellows, TfA) and held a Transitional B certification your pathway is: "Approved Prep Program Trans B Certificate - Progression”

• If you have an expired initial certification and need a time extenstion apply for an initial reissuance certificate in your content area on TEACH.   Search NYSED Search Certification Requirements for what you need. 

            **Note: Once your apply for a time extension/reissuance and it is approved, you cannot extend it again. 

• If you have an expired initial certificate and need to apply for a professional certification review  the requirements for in your content area on the NYSED Search Certification Requirements to identify what you need to meet to attain a professional certificate in your content area.  Then apply for professional certification on TEACH.

                       **Note: You do NOT need CTLE/Professional Development credits for your professional license when working in charter schools. However, if you want these credits on your TEACH account, here is more information regarding your next steps.  

                        **If you've attended New Visions Workshops and would like the CTLE credits applied to your TEACH account, please follow the directions/prompts provided here to receive the CTLE certificate. Then review the information here regarding your next steps for submission to your TEACH account. 

                        **Additional Note: You do not need mentoring experience working in a charter school. However, if you want this experience on your TEACH account, please send Mentorship Experience Form to Matt Gill at mgill@newvisions.org.
